Are writers and singers beginning to write proper protest songs again, as they did in the Sixties? We need more of these…

Climate Denial Crock of the Week

Lyrics:

[HADES]
Why do we build the wall, my children, my children?
Why do we build the wall?

[ALL TOGETHER]
Why do we build the wall?
We build the wall to keep us free
That’s why we build the wall
We build the wall to keep us free

[HADES]
How does the wall keep us free, my children, my children?
How does the wall keep us free?

Well, we can take that straight back to using national security as a blanket excuse to suborn censorship. I draw a straight line to Bush the second and the Dixie Chicks who wrote a song bagging on him and his policies. Th3 hue and cry went up that it was unamerican, unpatriotic to protest, to have a different opinion of events and I’ll be damned if the machine didn’t censor airplay and retail distribution. What, the book about Bush 2’s coke habit, party boy racist college lifestyle and his wife’s suspicious deeds as well as his less than stellar collegiate and armed service performance was pulled, banned, banished destroyed before it got off the tables at Barnes and Noble? Shit, Jefferson Airplane to Bob Dylan couldn’t buy a record deal in today’s climate without sugar coating the party line. Sorry. Censorship on the arts really pisses me off.
