Florida State And Parents Forced An 11-Year-Old Girl To Marry The Church Bishop Who Raped And Made Her Pregnant At Age 10 Because It’s Allowed By Law — Also Thousands of other children as young as 13

This I had to reblog, just to make more people aware that the child bride abuse in Pakistan, Saudi Arabia, India and non-Western countries is just as rampant in the good ol’ US of A. Read it and weep.

Reality Decoded

Florida’s halls of power currently side with the rapist, not the rape victims, if the parents are ok with it.

Sherry Johnson was raped at age 8 and became pregnant at age 10. She was forced to marry her rapist at age 11. To keep the abuse secret, Sherry says her parents forced her to marry the 20-year-old bishop who raped her. She became a wife and a mother by the fifth grade.

Sherry could not get a divorce until she was 18. By that time, she had six children with the man who continued to rape her legally. She had to abandon high school due to repeated pregnancies.

Currently, she is an advocate to end child marriage in the U.S. (huge uphill fight)

In Florida marriage laws have a loophole that allows children under the age of 16 to get married if they’re pregnant and have the consent of…

It is a horror story of the worst kind and to think it is LEGAL???????? Unthinkable for me also. I had no idea these things went on in our so-called Christian worlds. Those perpetrators and law makers as well as judges are monsters and criminals. So are the parents who support this sort of thing.

There are no words that can give acceptability and permissability to what is legal in the great United States of America. This is male chavanism at its absolute worst. If it was one state or two, I could put it down to rampant conservatism, but being as it is all states, protectorates, and territories all consenting politicians, serving or retired should be hung by their balls and ovaries with extreme prejudice, I don’t care what party they are from.

Totally agree… These lawmakers and judges are criminals… not to mention the perps and participating parents.

Indeed, this one is global… and to quote you (:-) ) what do you think ‘The Antierra Manifesto’ is attempting to demonstrate? We’re on the same page here.

Chauvinism… yep, got it. There’ no escaping typos on blogging, I’ve tried and one may as well just quit if s/he thinks of writing “hurry up” comments without typos.

This is nothing new. Steve Tyler, Jerry Lee Lewis, the list goes on and on ALL had 13 year old “wards”, wives, donated for $ concubines.1977 Roman Polanski was charged with drugging and raping a 13 year old girl. He pleaded guilty to some lesser charges but hotfooted it out of the country to keep from serving time. Fast Forward to 2002 and, no shit really, he wins and Academy Award for “The Pianist”! Say it fast enough and he got an award for being a penisist. Go figure. There were no laws on the books anywhere in the states covering spousal or relationship rape. If a woman was involved in a relationship then Jim Bob could smack her around and rape her all he wanted. Until the late 70s there were no rape crisis centers or hotlines. What do you think The Hot Girl is about? Some whiny bra burner? Women had NO resources until the last part of the 20th century, and in a large part of the world are still considered property. And in the 21st century what a woman can do with her body and what kind of health care she can receive is still a topic for legislation! Talk about wrong…And guess what? Nasty old America isn’t even close to the devils who practice female circumcision. Forget the immigrants and the religious zealots, fight the real battle – to turn over half the world’s population into more than second class citizens.

Phil, I think my comment to your went to rawgod, and I think I know what I’m doing wrong now. The comment to you was: “Indeed, this one is global… and to quote you (:-) ) what do you think ‘The Antierra Manifesto’ is attempting to demonstrate? We’re on the same page here.” Thanks for commenting and adding these details too many of us don’t even know about. “The Hot Girl” – yes indeed, I gathered that as you went deeper into the story.

Pun intended, though “unholy shit” might be more appropriate.

For years I heard about 17 year old couples needing parental permission to get married. It was obviously meant to prevent high school sweethearts from making an immature mistake. It never occurred to me my entire life that pedophiles would receive permission from violently sick people willing to allow their young children to be raped and kidnapped – and making it legal. Wow.

In the state in which I live the age of consent is 18 and 17 year olds can marry only with parental consent and judicial consent.

We repeatedly make the mistake of judging the past without context and bringing it forward to our current point of view. A lot of the laws allowing marriage of minors under the age of 21 are holdovers from the past and while there was always the spectre of abuse, the laws are still on the books and used to great effect by those preying on the young. It would be simple to force the issue with Federally mandated laws to force change in the states but that creates another fight and the victims are lost in the shuffle. I so want to rant on this but, I’d only use up your WP storage space limits. We have to genuinely care en masse for victims and move to protect them and that is the death of any worthy cause in today’s social chaos. Just my opinion. This is how I feel about the subject.

Disgusting really. Outraged and so heart breaking to see crimes against girls and women across the world. And Like the angle that its NOT only Muslim nations where such events are going on, there is so much hypocrisy on these matters.
