We’re Going to the Circus, Mom!

Has current civilization become nothing more than an on-going circus? Is everything fake and false? Can anything be believed, or believed in?

“There’s a sucker born every minute!” (a saying associated with P.T. Barnum but was in evidence long before his time. A saying of con men in general.) Have we all devolved happily and become the proverbial suckers of the times? That’s not even a rhetorical question: we truly have.

If you ever watch some political sides of You Tube, watch the numbnuts who follow Trump’s mindless rants and judge for yourself. One of his latest, openly slandering Ilhan Omar, shows his fans mindlessly chanting “Send her back! Send her back!” What sort of creatures are these ignorant Trumpites? The exact same that followed Hitler and made WWII possible. (By the way, most of them died in it too but the rank stupidity of these creatures precludes any reasoning of cause and effect.)

I saw an interview with a journalist commenting on his meeting with the Donald. His comment was priceless: “It’s frustrating interviewing Donald Trump. What does he mean when he uses words?”

Yes… what does Trump really mean when he uses words in his tweets or rallies? Difficult to say isn’t it since everything he utters is a lie – and make no mistake about this: any partial truth is always a lie, in fact it is the perfect lie because no matter which side the numbnuts stand, one can say he’s stating a fact while the other can say he’s lying and both are right.

So you made it to the circus, paid your entry fee, and there he is, as big as life itself: the clown they elevated to circus master, and he’s promising you all sorts of entertainment, all of it so biggly, you’ve never seen the likes before. He gets you in the mood to believe, and when the scraggly, half-starved, hobbled lion show up on stage, you’re in darkest Africa on a safari. You’re the great white hunter and no other great white hunter has ever faced such odds as you are today.

You see, you’re a believer. You paid your fee and you will be entertained as no one has ever been entertained before. The man’s promises are your guarantee, and your willing mind is the provider of this fake reality TV show.

This kind of devolution and submission to spurious trumpery is the way civilization has chosen to go, whether deliberately and mindlessly, and it’s become a global circus.

There are very serious events taking place throughout the world which require equally serious thinking and quest for solutions. Do we continue to choose mindless and destructive entertainment, or do we get serious? Do I even need to ask that?

The death of civilization is a drastic matter, a real apocalypse. Yes, because people have allowed themselves to be enslaved to the “City”; to the grid machine, when the grid fails, billions die. Not overnight, but already we are subconsciously aware of deaths caused by blindly disavowed global recession due to oligarch economics aided and abetted by climate change. In the coming centuries as Homo Sapiens civilization implodes in unsustainability billions will die to be replaced with a mutant species of true humans who will have absolutely nothing to do with any remnant of HS life, its technology or its belief systems. A much deserved end and a new beginning.

I no longer read the news. It’s not that I do not trust the BBC, I do and would defend most of its work (apart from the presentation and style of delivery on its news channel, which is a great irritation and disappointment).
No, it is a matter of there being no need to read the majority of the news. Idiots and opportunists are now allowed to blunder through the landscape, wherein in days gone by matters had an air of credibility. Now we have fools and idiots. What more do I need to know.
I read the science and entertainment news and that’s about it.
    I shall stick to writing
    (And catching up on Antierra)

Welcome back, Roger. Thanks for the comment. I’m being strongly pulled in the direction of ditching the ‘news’ myself and just writing my own brand of flossofy and such. If you have trouble finding your way back to the Antierra blog posts, let me know and I’ll make a “MS Word” care package for you!!!

“A much deserved end and a new beginning.”
I mean…that says it all, doesn’t it? We’re headed in one direction and will keep going unless a huge, drastic, all-inclusive sea change occurs, which is unlikely.

Thanks for commenting. I’ve pondered the odds of such a “huge, drastic, all-inclusive change” occurring and came up with a big zero. Every burst of protest will be squished, squashed and squirmed out. Nothing will catch on and even the rare wildfires of rebellion will be doused, or re-directed politically and economically. For change to happen, as you say, it has to be all-inclusive. That would mean the Muggles would have to individually choose to abandon their hatreds, bigotries, baseless fears of others to create an unbreakable bond of unity. It would mean global collective agreement to dismantle all power systems resting in organized religion, government and banking to then start from scratch, whatever that means. Muggles aren’t made to function that way, they are programmed to always choose sides-end of story.

Polarization sells. It’s all gotta be somebody’s fault. Too bad there’s no middle ground. Bernie is equally as unstable and radical in his own right as Trump. No offense but the lady from NewYork is proof beyond Trump of an electable idiot. So I say we jump off into our fiction because worrying about it ain’t gonna change a thing. All we can do is shine a light in our own little corner of the universe and carry on.
